DAVID RICKARD - Director

David Rickard, a member of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) Institute, brings a wealth of audit experience to Matley Audit. Joining the firm at its inception in 2022, David transitioned from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where he honed a diverse skill set in financial assurance, accounting systems, financial controls, and data analytics.

During his tenure at PwC, David developed expertise in automating assurance procedures, demonstrating his ability to innovate and streamline audit processes. His experience spans a wide range of industries, including but not limited to not-for-profit organisations, giving him a broad perspective on various business models and financial structures.

David's approach to client relationships is characterised by his friendly and approachable demeanour, coupled with a deep commitment to professionalism. He excels in communicating complex financial insights in a respectful and informative manner, ensuring clients fully understand the implications of audit findings and recommendations.

A key strength of David's is his capability to develop the audit systems with a client-centric mindset. He leverages his technical expertise to design tailored solutions that meet the assurance requirements while facilitating user-friendly processes for the client team and personnel involved in assisting the audit process.

Mohammad Nusair - Senior Manager

Mohammad's dynamic career in finance and auditing spans over three decades, during which he has garnered extensive experience and qualifications, including CA-ANZ & CPA credentials. His expertise is not limited to traditional auditing and financial services but extends to specialized areas of Digital Maturity Assessment and Transformation, evidenced by a masterful understanding of digital innovation within complex environments. Mohammad's global portfolio includes significant roles within prestigious organisations such as the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and Talal Abu-Ghazaleh & Co. International, where he has delivered transformative digital strategies and leadership in internal auditing functions. As a forward-thinking professional keen to contribute to the vanguard of technological advancement, his commitment to continuous learning, evidenced by his pursuit of a Master in Digital Business, positions him as an asset on any engagement.

Naomi Bakaka - Manager

Naomi Bakaka, a seasoned accounting professional, brings a broad range of experience in the external audit field from Papua New Guinea. Her portfolio includes audits across multiple sectors, including telecommunications, commercial, and industrial products and services, with substantial expertise in the Banking and Financial Institutions sector. Naomi possesses a keen passion for data analytics and organisation, attributes that have fuelled her career progression. Her most recent position as Assistant Audit Manager at PwC Papua New Guinea saw her at the forefront of digital initiative campaigns aimed at assisting clients streamline their data for informative decision-making purposes. Within her role, she also efficiently managed both large and small-scale audits. Naomi attained her Bachelor of Accounting from the University of Papua New Guinea, and is recognised as a Certified Practicing Accountant by CPA Papua New Guinea.

I came into being on 23rd August 2023, with an algorithmic eye for detail, I can efficiently review and summarise documents, effortlessly tie in samples, and suggest precise wording for audit documentation. With ease, I provide comprehensive assessments of the risks that will have a significant impact on financial statements and the organisation as a whole, drawing direct links from observed risks to the response required for the audit.
